An Australian Meat School cohort in Fiji holding their certificates

Skilled meat workers, trained to Australian standards

The Australian Meat School (AMS) prepares experienced overseas meat workers for Australian processing plants: vetted candidates, Australian-standard training and English support. Now delivering in Ho Chi Minh City and Fiji.

The problem

$50,000
to $100,000

charged to Vietnamese workers by fraudulent operators

An ethical alternative to the scams

Too many Vietnamese workers hoping to build a career in Australia have been charged between $50,000 and $100,000 by fraudulent operators.

At the same time, Australian processors that supply major retailers are being asked to prove that their overseas workers are protected from modern slavery.

AMS was built to answer both problems: an ethical and transparent training program, with clear costs, verified candidates and a documented journey from application to program completion.

How it works

Three steps, one Australian standard

1

Recruit and vet

Every candidate passes a physical assessment based on a current Australian industry process, a police check, a drug and alcohol test, an English level check and verification of their employment history.

2

Train

An upskilling program in a modern classroom and an Australian-standard training facility in Ho Chi Minh City: industry core units, English training up to PTE 36 and fitness training, delivered by trainers with 20+ years of industry experience.

3

Certify

Participants receive a skills test certificate, marking competencies recognised by the Australian meat processing sector.

For Australian employers

What you get

  • Candidates who are vetted before they are trained, not after.
  • Skills taught to Australian standards in an Australian-standard facility.
  • Tracking from initial application, through vetting, physicals and employment verification, to program progress.
  • Graduates of the Australian Meat School have been offered the opportunity to work in Australia by major Australian employers.
