Response Consulting
Organisational development that sticks
More than 30 years' experience developing people and organisations across multiple countries and industries. We partner with clients to solve complex organisational challenges and embed sustainable behavioural change.
How we help
Seven ways we work with organisations to build capability that stays after we leave — all grounded in Systems Leadership, a framework we've been working with and contributing to, since the mid-1990s.
"Response have had a massive impact on how we operate, how we think, and how we more effectively lead, manage and drive change and achieve operational excellence up, down and across, our enterprise."
Jon Knight, Executive Divisional People and Capability Manager, Fulton HoganStabilising leadership through a major industrial dispute
Kaiser's facilities in north-eastern USA entered a major industrial dispute, with a lockout of unionised employees. Over two years, Response Group worked with senior leaders to develop the interim organisation while planning the eventual return-to-work strategy — stabilising the quality of leadership, improving fundamental systems, and planning for the transition.
The transition was implemented faster than other Kaiser facilities, with the General Manager estimating an overall cost saving of US$800,000, alongside positive productivity and safety outcomes.
Proof across the group
GoldCorp (now Newmont Mining)
A 4-year culture transformation at their Peñasquito operation in Mexico — redesigning induction, assessment and progression systems, and installing a self-sustaining, leader-led safety behaviour process.
The Drake Group
A 6-year organisation structure review for this Australian trailer manufacturer, upskilling the workforce into real qualifications and delivering a dramatic reduction in safety incidents.
AMPC & JBS Longford
An industry-wide employee engagement and retention project across 25 meat processing plants, plus a knife-sharpening programme that cut repetitive strain injuries by up to 40%.
The rest of the toolkit
Culture Audit
Semi-structured interviews across individuals and small groups to understand the current cultural reality — clarity of work, safety, leadership, behavioural issues and symbols — giving management a rich, qualitative basis for a plan.
Systems Review & Design
Systems and processes drive culture and behaviour as much as they drive output. We help design and install them — and build the internal capability to keep doing it after we leave.
Event & Workshop Facilitation
External facilitation gives every member of an organisation a real opportunity to be involved in review, planning and problem-solving — participants aligned with internal coaches so what they learn is embedded on the job.
Butcher's paper over slide decks
When we facilitate, we draw on butcher's paper and participants draw in their own workbooks — not a slide deck on a loop. It's far more engaging, and it taps into long-term memory in a way that staring at PowerPoint never does. These are photographed straight from real sessions.
